The permanent jewelers ink I use to create the blackened effect on all the rings, bracelets, and necklaces will remain darkened for a long period of time, but I advise you to refrain from wearing the piece while swimming, doing strenuous activities or bathing. If you do see the ink fading, you can easily reapply the darkened color by using a black permanent marker (you can also change the colors of the engravings by using any color of permanent marker!).
